In both Christian and Jewish tradition, the year of Jubilee was a time of joyous celebration, where slaves were set free and debts were forgiven. Cake Jubilee is making a way for today’s oppressed and suffering to experience their own Jubilee. Aside from supply and ingredient costs, all profits benefit the International Justice Mission (ijm.org), an organization fighting modern-day slavery and other forms of injustice throughout the world. Eat Cake. Make a difference. Change the world.
Another sweet Saturday, another small contribution to the world through Cake Jubilee. My friend needed Dr. Seuss themed cupcakes for her sister’s baby shower this weekend, but she wanted to do the cake toppers herself. All I had to do was make the cupcakes ready for her. Easy enough! What do you think?
What’s making your Saturday sweet?
Most of you can probably guess that I bake A LOT. But what you might not know is that I bake with a purpose. Today I got to make chocolate cupcakes for someone’s baby shower. I knew the theme was pink and orange Gerber daisies, so earlier this week, I spent the afternoon making some out of royal icing. I needed a few days for them to harden so that I could place them easily on the cupcakes.
Ooh, pretty! Gerber daisies are SO summer-timy aren’t they? I decided to add these cute picket fence liners around the cupcakes because along with the chocolate, I felt like I was looking at a cute lil’ garden.
Pretty please with a daisy on top?
