Happy Tuesday, everyone! Ever since Fran started the “Frilling Remix” series a few months ago, I have known what skirt I wanted to remix for y’all once I had some extra time. This skirt, like Fran’s dress, came from Anthropologie around the same time last year. It was a graduation gift from my mom-in-law, and it quickly became one of the most treasured pieces in my wardrobe. Why you ask?
- It’s versatile. There is so much color involved in this skirt that I’m almost always able to incorporate my first fashion rule: any solid can act as a neutral.
- It’s FUN and FRILLING! A lot of people go to neutrals or neutral solids for their staple items. This skirt is anything but dull. It’s bright and colorful and it really catches the eye.
- It’s timeless. The cut and the length are simply classic. I expect this skirt to be in my closet for many years to come.
- It’s comfortable! It’s just the right material and length for me to wear this dress no matter what I’m doing or how I’m feeling. And while it’s really comfortable and casual, it can also be dressed up. I just LOVE it.
Finally, I thought this skirt would be the perfect remix piece because it reminds me of how far I’ve evolved when it comes to my personal style. This is a skirt the “old me” either wouldn’t have bought because of the loud pattern or would have paired with one top only, all the time.
Hopefully this post will show just how much wear you can get out of non-neutral items. Check out my looks:
Skirt: Anthropologie / Top: Urban Outfitters / Cardigan: J Crew / Flats: Blowfish

Skirt: Anthropologie / Top: H&M / Wedges: Steve Madden
Did y’all notice how I swapped out a different colored bangle in each look, but kept all of the other gold bracelets on? What’s your favorite look? Do you have a basic spring skirt that’s your best friend during the warm weather months?
