Frilling Long Skirts: Maxi and Midi

By

I am having so much fun living in Texas!  I get to play with Aurelia all the time!  Lately, she and I have both been having fun wearing long flowy skirts.

The maxi skirt isn’t one I have a lot of experience with, but I’ve been keeping my eyes peeled for the perfect one, and I happened to pop into Madewell and find this one on sale.  My favorite part about it is that it’s so comfortable to wear, yet I feel “dressed” in it and put together.  I love the black and cream colors so it’s neutral but interesting.  (I know, I know: who’s that girl with straight hair?!  I straighten my hair about once every 2 years, and this happened to be the day.)

I’m wearing mine with a navy V-neck pocket tee (Madewell), a blush-colored sparkly cardigan (Gap), a brown belt that I wish were cognac-colored instead (Target), and my Born ballet flats. The necklace is the one Huzz gave me for my birthday, which I wear nearly every day.  And of course there is The Bag.

Aurelia is totally on top of the polka dot trend in her striped/spotted Madewell midi skirt.  She’s even mixing her polka dots, but varying the size of them, which is a great approach, I think; her top is a sharkbite pocket tank from F21.

Topped with a pink JCrew cardigan, Aurelia gets an A for pattern mixing.  She’s also brilliantly accessorized with lots of chunky necklaces and gold bangles, a pewter clutch, and neutral wedges from UO.   I love how versatile this skirt is, and I can’t wait to see how else she styles it.  So cute.

We especially like how both skirts will transition well to spring, so we’ll get lots of miles out of them.
