Frilling Ways to Chambray: In Lieu of a Jacket

By

Happy Wednesday everyone! Besides the recent (and hopefully last) cold snap we’ve just experienced, Spring has really sprung here in Austin, and I’ve been getting plenty of use out of my favorite knit dresses as a result.

It’s probably no surprise to you that denim is really popular¬†lately. Besides my chambray top, I’ve recently acquired this denim vest, and I am so excited to style it with dresses, shorts, etc. Still, as the weeks have gone by, I’ve started to realize how much a cropped denim jacket would do wonders in my closet. I have styled the one we have at J. Crew in so many fun ways for clients (try pencil skirts, woven and silk dresses, maxi skirts and dresses), and now I find myself wishing I had one for similar items of mine.

Fran found a great one at H&M not too long ago, but I’m still hunting for the perfect one. Do I want a white or colored one? How dark should the denim be? How fitted and cropped? Until I’ve found the one I’m totally FRILLED by, I’ve been using my chambray in lieu of a jacket or cardigan. Here, I’ve paired it with this super fun knit dress.

I added a pop of yellow with my shoes, bag and nails for some FRILLS.

It was a no makeup/dirty hair kind of day, and I purposely kept the jewelry minimal. I wanted to be super simple and laid-back.
