Frill up your look: pattern mixing EBEW
We’re all about mixing and matching this week, thanks to the August theme at Everybody, Everwear. I love mixing patterns because it’s fun and freeing, and I get a lot of “I could never pull that off!” and “I would have never thought to wear that!” when I do. What people don’t realize is that they CAN pull it off; just wear your mix-matched look with confidence, and try to keep a common thread going with each of your pieces.
I kept it pretty simple with my mix and match look. The high-waist Urban Outfitters shorts have been in my closest for over a year and have gotten a TON of wear because they are both comfortable and versatile. They have a black polka-dot print, but it’s very subtle so I normally match them with any top I like at the moment.
I paired the shorts with this hot pink, striped top, also from UO. I wanted the blue color to stand out against the pink so I added my go-to wedges to lighten up the look as well as my fave hot pink lip gloss from MAC.
Finally, I tied the blue and pink together with a scarf Fran lent me that bursts with both colors. If the shorts’ print was louder, I might not have added another pattern to the mix, but I found them subtle enough to FRILL things up a bit.
