Happy August EBEW every one! This month’s theme is monochromatic which is a total breeze for me because I’ve been layering color on color nonstop as of late (like here, here, and here). This particular outfit had actually been hanging in the front of my closet for a week (I had planned on wearing it to a conference, but got sick instead). I love the drapey look, and yes – it is as comfortable as it appears to be!
Check out the deets: Italian glass necklace that my in-laws brought home to me after a trip they took overseas a few years ago, my go-to gold bangles+a blue J CREW addition, and blue nails (just for extra FRILLS).

What about you? Will you EBEW?
It was as if Beth had read my mind when she gave me this neon orange and gold necklace as a graduation gift.
I love the geometric color-blocking, and I LOVE that it’s tangerine tango. I especially love pairing it with pink. Neon pink. Neons, specifically pink and orange have been really trendy this spring, and I have no shame in jumping on the band wagon because I absolutely love this color scheme!
My advice when it comes to purchasing super trendy pieces, such as neon: don’t spend the big bucks. If you absolutely must indulge, drop into H&M or F21 and save places like J Crew or Anthropologie for more timeless or classic pieces. I got this frilling, trendy dress from H&M for $25. While I plan to get a lot of wear out of it this summer, I don’t know how long of a life it will have in my closet. I admit, it was an i-just-can’t-help-myself kind of purchase, but at least I didn’t break the bank!
As you can see, I’m still faithfully rockin’ the hat (the hat apparently loves to make appearances with neon).

This is my interpretation of the June EBEW for neon. Will you EBEW?
It’s EBEW time! But first, I have a confession: I’m bad at nautical. I’ve never really gotten this look down. I don’t have any fun nautical hats or white blazers or high-waist shorts. Mostly, though, I’m simply not drawn to the classic nautical colors: navy blue or red. I just don’t have a lot of these colors in my closet!

Attempt two. You can’t say it’s not nautical! People always tell me this dress is cute, but I never know how to best accessorize with it. Help! Any suggestions?

Funny story behind this dress. Last spring, I was on my way to Austin when I decided to stop by the Round Rock Outlets briefly. I had my dog with me, but I figured since it wasn’t really hot and I was only making a quick stop, all would be fine. So, I ran into J Crew, found this dress, tried it on, loved it, and obviously purchased it. I got back to my car only to find that someone had called animal control on me! I couldn’t believe it! After enduring a bit of a lecture and a lot of guilt, I drove home with my new dress. It has felt a little like blood money ever since! Don’t worry everyone, my pup is still alive and well!
Which look do you like best? Do you ever go nautical and have any tips for me? I would love to hear your thoughts!
Happy EBEW day! This month’s theme is pastel, which is a really huge trend right now. I don’t have a lot of pastel pieces, but I was determined to work with what I already have in my closet to make this look my own.
I basically just put on everything I owned that could be considered pastel! This is exactly why I love participating in EBEW each month. It stretches my creativity, and I almost always end up in outfits I would have never thought of otherwise.
I ended up LOVING this look because of the soft, sweet hues and the way they contrasted with my darker tone. Plus, I have been wearing a lot of really bright clothing lately so it was a nice change.
Notice the bag. It has not disappointed. I am still smitten. I can’t get over the fact that my 5’1 self found a big bag that doesn’t swallow me. I deserve some kind of special award for that feat people.

One of my favorite ways to keep up with new trends is by easy accessorizing. (Cristin talked about this also a few weeks ago!) For example, I almost always wear the same gold bangles and bracelets these days; I just switch out the biggest, chunkiest one depending on my color scheme. Lately I’m loving this pastel blue J Crew bracelet. Also, I haven’t bought any new clothing as far as pastels are concerned, but it was cheap and easy to find this pastel green nail color.
Thanks for reading! What are your favorite pastel pieces? Are you like me and lacking in that area?
Hello! We have a Frilling week of Valentine fun this week! Starting with EBEW! Since tomorrow’s EBEW is red and pink (we’ll be linking up tomorrow morning), I thought it was a perfect day to post my Valentine ensemble.
Aurelia’s Valentine party had a dress code: wear red, pink, and/or black. Dress up or dress down, didn’t matter. I wanted to dress up! How often does a Mama get to put on a cheesy cocktail dress and go to a junior high dance? I wanted to make the most of this Frilling opportunity. So for that, I went to Ross and purchased this $8 dress. Which I wore with leopard pumps and my pink blazer (and, I’ll admit, occasionally a hot pink feather boa. But we won’t talk about that here.)
This is not a dress that I would personally buy unless I had a cheesy occasion to wear it. But, for the $8 price tag, I thought it worth the purchase. I hardly ever wear true red, but I think I pulled it off just this once. But I certainly don’t need an occasion to wear my favorite hot pink blazer… or hot pink lips…. or hot pink nails…
Incidentally, this is a pretty budget-friendly outfit. Dress: Ross. Shoes: target. Blazer: Gap. Swarovski bracelets: raided from my mom’s closet. Clutch: Sam Moon. And yep, B is wearing Valentine PJ’s. I planned that. Sortof.
This month’s pick over at Everybody Everywear is Black and White. The fun thing about this scheme is that it’s not one I tend to go for a lot, so I had to go shopping in my closet for a new look. I kept things pretty simple with my go-to high-waist, mini skirt from Urban Outfitters. I wanted to choose an outfit that I would actually wear out and about, and I was happy with the look and feel of the end result.
Sweater: Banana Republic, Scarf: H&M, Belt: Zara, Skirt: UO, Ultra Knee Highs: DSW, Boots: Blowfish, Bangles: F21
I love Fran’s choice for this EBEW. Her outfit is fun, fresh, versatile, and chic. I especially love the addition of the blazer. It’s the perfect daytime look!

Do you like to wear black and white? Will you EBEW?
I can’t even believe it, but we appear to be having a rainy day here in Texas making this month’s EBEW theme perfect for adding some cheer to a dreary day! I have been excited about colored tights for a while now, thanks to an old post of Fran’s (she’s great at spotting the seasonal trends) as well as the fact that everyone seems to be wearing and selling them.
I knew American Apparel would be the place to go if I wanted my pick of colored tights, and I was right! They had it all, but I chose this violently HOT pink! I also have some mustard tights I have really been enjoying thanks to Target (they have a bunch of colored tights for $5 a piece right now, so check it out!).
This fall/winter season is going to be a fun one with knee high socks and colored tights in the picture!
Are you bold enough to rock colored tights? What’s your favorite color to wear?
The September EBEW is here, and the verdict: Colored Pants! EBEW is officially my favorite time of the month (even though it FORCED me to break out the purple harem pants because I already used my go-to yellow pants in July’s EBEW).
I was excited to style a look geared more towards fall anyway, so I guess it’s a win-win for me. And even though animal print (it’s very much “in” right now, did you know?) was the voter’s runner-up theme, I couldn’t help myself and went ahead and made an outfit featuring both.
What do you think? And what’s your take on colored pants? Do you have a favorite color or material to wear?

We’re all about mixing and matching this week, thanks to the August theme at Everybody, Everwear. I love mixing patterns because it’s fun and freeing, and I get a lot of “I could never pull that off!” and “I would have never thought to wear that!” when I do. What people don’t realize is that they CAN pull it off; just wear your mix-matched look with confidence, and try to keep a common thread going with each of your pieces.
I kept it pretty simple with my mix and match look. The high-waist Urban Outfitters shorts have been in my closest for over a year and have gotten a TON of wear because they are both comfortable and versatile. They have a black polka-dot print, but it’s very subtle so I normally match them with any top I like at the moment.
I paired the shorts with this hot pink, striped top, also from UO. I wanted the blue color to stand out against the pink so I added my go-to wedges to lighten up the look as well as my fave hot pink lip gloss from MAC.
Finally, I tied the blue and pink together with a scarf Fran lent me that bursts with both colors. If the shorts’ print was louder, I might not have added another pattern to the mix, but I found them subtle enough to FRILL things up a bit.
And that’s MY look. Will you EBEW today?
This month’s EBEW is about mixing prints, and since this is a fashion topic that is near and dear to my heart (I LOVE mixing up prints and patterns), I thought I’d get in on the fun with my first ever outfit post. Woo hoo!
Here, I’m wearing my favorite floral skirt of this season, from Anthro; topped with a stripey tank from Urban Outfitters. Plus, my favorite frilly, multi-patterned sandals.
Even Baby B is getting in on the action, mixing up stripes and florals like Mama. She’s wearing her new legwarmers that her Auntie Aurelia made her.
