Happy EBEW day! This month’s theme is pastel, which is a really huge trend right now. I don’t have a lot of pastel pieces, but I was determined to work with what I already have in my closet to make this look my own.
I basically just put on everything I owned that could be considered pastel! This is exactly why I love participating in EBEW each month. It stretches my creativity, and I almost always end up in outfits I would have never thought of otherwise.
I ended up LOVING this look because of the soft, sweet hues and the way they contrasted with my darker tone. Plus, I have been wearing a lot of really bright clothing lately so it was a nice change.
Notice the bag. It has not disappointed. I am still smitten. I can’t get over the fact that my 5’1 self found a big bag that doesn’t swallow me. I deserve some kind of special award for that feat people.

One of my favorite ways to keep up with new trends is by easy accessorizing. (Cristin talked about this also a few weeks ago!) For example, I almost always wear the same gold bangles and bracelets these days; I just switch out the biggest, chunkiest one depending on my color scheme. Lately I’m loving this pastel blue J Crew bracelet. Also, I haven’t bought any new clothing as far as pastels are concerned, but it was cheap and easy to find this pastel green nail color.
Thanks for reading! What are your favorite pastel pieces? Are you like me and lacking in that area?
Happy Saturday everyone! One week from now, my husband and I will be taking a trip to GREECE with some of my colleagues! Until then, I’m enjoying the usual early Texas spring.
Every year, I like to buy one nice pair of shoes that I love and that will carry me through the summer as well. Of course I have other shoes I will also wear, but there is generally ONE pair that I splurge on. These are what I call my statement shoes. Want to know my advice on choosing your statement shoes for spring?
1. Decide first on the style of shoe that works best for you. For example, your go-to style might include flats, strappy sandals, wedges or heels. For me, I LOVE chunky shoes that make me taller, but that are also comfortable. Wedges are my signature look when it comes to spring/summer because I find them to be very easy to walk in as well as comfortable (as long as you find the right pair). So, I knew I wanted a pair of wedges for the spring. Now what?
2. Pick a trend. What’s your favorite trend that you are seeing right now? For us normal humans, we can’t have it all! So pick your favorite look and start searching for shoes that are inspired by that particular trend. This season, there are a few trends that have drawn my attention, specifically when it comes to shoes: platform sandals, color-blocking, and thick, leather strapping.
3. Find a balance with practicality. Obviously, none of these trends are necessarily timeless, but I decided to go with the one I thought I would ultimately get the most use out of. That’s not to say I won’t end up with a pair of platforms, for example. But they definitely won’t be my splurge of the season!
I am so happy with the end result. I have already worn these shoes a number of times, and they are very comfortable and go with everything! As soon as spring really hits, I plan on wearing big, chunky wedges as many days as possible until the fall. Since I already have a few pairs from previous years, it’s looking to be a very FRILLING spring for me!
What will be your statement shoes this season?

PS: Not too long ago, I received a package out of nowhere in the mail from my friend’s mom. (You DON’T even know how much I LOVE getting mail.) Inside was this orange cross body bag with a chain link strap (I’m using it as a clutch here). I ADORE it. Thank you Ruby! What a kind and thoughtful surprise!
Go to Target. Now! Run! There are loads and loads of cute, strappy, printed dresses and most are under $25. Can you hear them calling your name? I did.
Here are two of my picks:
This dress is my favorite mostly because I love how the coloring looks on my skin tone. Plus, the fit is perfect for my petite lil’ self. Don’t worry if you don’t love the pattern. There are TONS to choose from. I didn’t accessorize at all with this one because I really wanted the shoes to be the star of the show.
These two dresses cost me a whopping $40! Not too shabby for two frilling outfits that can make multiple different looks.
Now I’m wondering if you even finished this post or are already perusing the aisles at Target.
First off, do you EBEW? This month’s pick over at Everybody Everywear is floral, which goes perfectly with some of my frilling spring faves. Floral has been quite the fad for a while now, so much so, that my collection has really grown!
Here are a few of my favorite floral frills from my own wardrobe:
I like to compliment this Gap floral maxi dress with a hot pink bandeau bra and lots of long necklaces. It kind of freaks me out that you can’t see my eye balls in these pics. I promise, I do have a soul.
Can someone say “floral on floral on floral”? Floral is girly. So is lavendar. So is bright pink lip gloss. And just for good measure, I threw in a bow (a floral bow). In this outfit, my girliness shall not be challenged!! This entire set is from Urban Outfitters (minus the scarf..which was purchased at Goodie Two Shoes in Austin).
Another Urban Outfitters gem. The back is so frilling that I felt no need to dress the outfit up with jewelry. Or show you the whole rest of the outfit, for that matter.
Do you have any frilling floral faves this spring? Will you EBEW today?
